Oct 2009: European Court of Justice rules against Ireland in relation to effluent and waste water treatment systems, highlighting the need for new legislation to set standards for the performance of septic tanks and wastewater treatment systems in Ireland, and proposing the introductions of monitoring and inspection of sewage and water treatment systems.
Owners of properties served by septic tanks and other wastewater treatment systems will be required to operate and maintain their systems correctly and have those systems subjected to inspection to ensure that they are functioning efficiently.
Householders will be required to take and remedial action necessary to bring their treatment systems up to the required standards. Penalties will be incurred for non-compliance offences.

Bio Pure System Features

  • Install into existing septic tanks with minimum disruption to the garden.
  • Guaranteed odour free, quiet running.
  • Low electrical running costs (average €40 per annum).
  • High quality treatment, effluent can be discharged by surface irrigation to plants, trees.
  • Tank to be desludged on average every five years.
  • High quality, long life components used.
  • Manufactured in Ireland to highest Irish and European standards.

How The Bio Pure System Works

The three stages of the Bio-Pure system treatment process are as follows:
Bio Pure System Aeration
STAGE 1: AERATION PROCESS

This is where the sewage is aerobically treated. The sewage is completely broken down, breaking the solids into small particles.

With aeration there are no sewage smells from the tank.

Maximum aeration duration is twelve hours (9am - 9pm)

Bio Pure System Settlement
STAGE 2: SETTLEMENT PROCESS

The aeration process is switched off and the settlement process begins. All small particles settle to the bottom of the tank, and the treated effluent moves to the top of the tank.

Settlement process duration is six hours (9pm - 3am)

Bio Pure System Pumping
STAGE 3: PUMPING OF FINAL EFFLUENT

The pumping sequence is timed to come on at 3am in the morning. At this stage the final effluent will be of a very high standard.

10mg/litre Biological Oxygen Demand 10mg/litre suspended solids. The final effluent is discharged at sub-surface irrigation.
